Hey yall! My name is Amanda Law. I am 21 years old and a native Memphian. I am a Religious Studies major and Education minor. In Tri Delta, I am the Vice President of Chapter Development, so I am in charge of our chapter's standards committee and presiding over all DDD rituals.
Outside of sorority life, I am very involved in service at Rhodes and in the Memphis community. This summer I am a Rhodes Summer Service Fellow. I am working for a nonprofit organization called BRIDGES here in Memphis. In June, I was a facilitator for the Bridge Builders Junior Conferences. These are six day experiences for juniors in high school from all around the city that lay aside individual, social, economic and cultural differences to work for the benefit of all. Participants build the skills necessary to improve their self-confidence, strengthen their relationships, succeed in school and take action to build a healthy community. In July, I am working at BRIDGES's office developing a youth program called the Bridge Builders College Corps. It is an opportunity for college students to receive quality leadership training and to access meaningful volunteer experiences with middle and high school youth in the Greater Memphis community.
During the school year, I also spend a good deal of time working with mentoring/education programs and hunger and homelessness service sites in Memphis. A couple fun facts about myself: I do not know how to ride a bike. I can touch my tongue to my nose, and my favorite candy is peanut butter m&m's.
Hope you're having a great summer!
Delta Love,
Amanda
